Visiting Aberdovey

Aberdovey (Aberdyfi) is a thriving little harbour resort set within the Snowdonia National Park, where the river Dyfi meets the blue waters of Cardigan Bay. It is a wide, calm estuary with hills on both banks and an expanse of sky which changes with the seasons.

Snowdonia National Park is an ideal area for walkers, climbers and wildlife watchers. The peaks of the Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy ranges are within easy reach - Aberdovey is surrounded by spectacular mountain and valley scenery.

Whatever your style of recreation, Aberdovey has something to offer. Aberdovey is renowned in particular for its excellent sailing and watersports facilities and also our championship links golf course. The village is unspoiled with four miles of fine, sandy beaches and sheltered dunes. The beaches are popular with sunbathers, swimmers, surfers and fishermen.

Our golf course lies immediately to the landward side of the sand dunes, nestling between the dunes and the Cambrian Coast railway line beneath the hills.

The main thing about Aberdovey is the magic of the village itself. Quaint old streets rise up to spectacular viewpoints. In the heart of the village you can enjoy browsing in specialist boutiques or dine in exceptional inns and restaurants. Alternatively, you can simply sit in this idyllic setting and relax. By virtue of its position on the estuary and the lie of the land, we even get milder winters and a lot less rain than other parts of Wales.

For more general information about the village and its many facilities, go to www.aberdyfi.com or www.aberdovey.org.uk.
