Last month we were delighted to welcome Peter Finch back to visit our course as part of his series of Top 100 courses that can be played for under £100. It was a fabulous day – the weather was fantastic and the golf was equally as good.
Peter’s video, showcasing our course at its finest, went live on his YouTube channel at 6pm last night and has already amassed 42,000 views!
You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/R34CvAlhQKg
Many thanks to Rob and Tomos for hosting Peter and his crew.
We were delighted to have recently been shortlisted as one of five finalists for the Wales: Golf Course of the Year Award.
The Golf Course Awards 2024 not only celebrated the achievements of the past year but also emphasized the importance of innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability in golf’s future. The event highlighted how the sport continues to evolve while cherishing its traditions.
The awards event itself took place at the iconic Shard building in London and was hosted by Sky Sports presenter, Nick Dougherty.
“Today is all about recognising, not just golf courses, but golf clubs and golf facilities that are driving progress. There are so many ways to enjoy this game, but it’s important to understand we have a responsibility to advance the sport, to make positive change.“ said Nick.
The Golf Course Awards showcased the outstanding work of Great Britain & Ireland’s most deserving golf courses. The finalist’s event brought together golf courses, judges, partners, and key industry voices, all helping to make that vision a reality.
Whilst Aberdovey unfortunately did not win the award for Wales – it was awarded to Pyle & Kenfig – we were absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted and recognised as one of the top 5 clubs in Wales for the progress we are making across all areas.
We hope to go all the way next year!

This week our Junior Captain Isobel Kelly jetted to New York to take part in the Curry Cup, a golf competition sponsored by NBA Star and Olympic Gold Medalist Wardell Curry.
Isobel shot a fantastic score of 71, 73, 76 = 220 (+1) to secure the title by a shot over Catherine Andino.
Everyone at the club is extremely proud of Isobel and her achievements to date, and we are all eagerly following her impressive golfing journey.
Ladies’ Captain, Janet Price said ‘On behalf of the golf club and the ladies’ section we would like to congratulate Isobel on her victory in the United States. She is a fantastic supporter of our ladies’ section club team events and is an excellent ambassador for women’s golf. We look forward to seeing her back at Aberdovey very soon’.
Yesterday was a big day at Aberdovey Golf Club!
We officially opened the Darwin Championship Tees with the help of Peter Baker, Tomos Jones, Jack Shelley and Isobel Kelly in a challenge match in which members and guests witnessed some fantastic golf being played in true links conditions.
The match was closely fought with Peter and Jack coming out the winners by 3&2.
The standard of golf in such challenging conditions was a joy to watch for all those who turned out and we thank everyone for making the effort to support the event.
The biggest thanks go to the players for showcasing the new tees and our course so well!
