This week our Junior Captain Isobel Kelly jetted to New York to take part in the Curry Cup, a golf competition sponsored by NBA Star and Olympic Gold Medalist Wardell Curry.
Isobel shot a fantastic score of 71, 73, 76 = 220 (+1) to secure the title by a shot over Catherine Andino.
Everyone at the club is extremely proud of Isobel and her achievements to date, and we are all eagerly following her impressive golfing journey.
Ladies’ Captain, Janet Price said ‘On behalf of the golf club and the ladies’ section we would like to congratulate Isobel on her victory in the United States. She is a fantastic supporter of our ladies’ section club team events and is an excellent ambassador for women’s golf. We look forward to seeing her back at Aberdovey very soon’.
Yesterday was a big day at Aberdovey Golf Club!
We officially opened the Darwin Championship Tees with the help of Peter Baker, Tomos Jones, Jack Shelley and Isobel Kelly in a challenge match in which members and guests witnessed some fantastic golf being played in true links conditions.
The match was closely fought with Peter and Jack coming out the winners by 3&2.
The standard of golf in such challenging conditions was a joy to watch for all those who turned out and we thank everyone for making the effort to support the event.
The biggest thanks go to the players for showcasing the new tees and our course so well!

Congratulations to our women’s scratch team who competed in the Welsh Team Championships held at Rhuddlan Golf Club on 17/18 August 2024.
The team were victorious in the their first match against Whitchurch GC, then followed this up with wins against Greenmeadow in the quarter finals and Royal St David’s GC in the semi finals.
In the final, they faced a strong opposition in Newport GC, and an extremely closely fought encounter just saw Newport edge the victory on the last hole, winning by 3 matches to 2.
We are extremely proud of the team for giving their all and representing the club so well. Thanks also to the caddies and supporters!

We are delighted to announce that Aberdovey junior member, Lucy Hurst, won the recent US Kids British Championship U13/14 girls award.
The event was held at the prestigious Woodhall Spa and Lucy played extremely well, fully deserving her win, and learning how to play a completely different style of golf course.
Congratulations from us all at the club!
A sunny final day at Wenvoe Castle Golf Club saw Isobel Kelly, Aberdovey’s Junior Captain, crowned the 2024 Welsh Girls Champion!

Yesterday, Sian Nickson and Andy Upson, our Ladies’ and Men’s Captains 2023 presented a cheque worth £4,600 to their chosen charity of the year, South Gwynedd Foodbank.
This money was raised during their year as Club Captains through organising club events and donations from members and visitors.
Since its inception in 2012, the Foodbank has served local people in crisis throughout South Gwynedd, providing three days’ worth of food to over 10300 people, about one third being children.
We thank Sian and Andy for their hard work throughout the year and also everyone who has donated to an extremely worthy cause.
Diolch o galon!
