Yesterday, Sian Nickson and Andy Upson, our Ladies’ and Men’s Captains 2023 presented a cheque worth £4,600 to their chosen charity of the year, South Gwynedd Foodbank.
This money was raised during their year as Club Captains through organising club events and donations from members and visitors.
Since its inception in 2012, the Foodbank has served local people in crisis throughout South Gwynedd, providing three days’ worth of food to over 10300 people, about one third being children.
We thank Sian and Andy for their hard work throughout the year and also everyone who has donated to an extremely worthy cause.
Diolch o galon!
Aberdovey Golf Club ladies’ section held their biannual coffee morning on Saturday 4th May, raising a fantastic £670 which will be split between the Captains’ Charity (Meirionnydd Special Riding Group) and ladies’ section funds.
We were delighted to welcome Sue and Jaspa from MSRG, who gave a heart warming and informative talk about their voluntary work with the charity, which is based nearby in Arthog.
Many thanks to all the ladies who worked hard to raise money on the day and for all the donations and purchases!
President’s Day took place on Sunday 5th May, with a full field of competitors taking part in a Betterball Stableford competition in glorious sunshine.
All entry fees were in aid of the President’s chosen charity, the Wales Air Ambulance.
Mike Bouch, President, was overwhelmed with the support and generosity of the members who took part in the day – and thanks go to all who entered, bought raffle tickets, or donated prizes.
We are delighted to announce that £1360 was raised!

“Mid Wales County Golf Association would like to thank Aberdovey Golf Club very much indeed for their warm welcome hosting the County Championships this weekend. The course was superb and the hospitality and organisation second to none. Our new County Champion is Sara Rees-Evans (Penrhos) and the Plate Winner is Alex O’Brien (Aberdovey).
Heartfelt thanks to everyone at the club and to the referees, all the competitors and supporters on making this such a fantastic event. Hats off the weather too, I think it’s fair to say it played a big part in our enjoyment this weekend!”
